What should I expect on my first SV WiMAX bill?
We bill for services one month in advance, so your first bill will include charges for the current and next month's service and equipment fees, one time shipping of equipment (if applicable) and one time installation (if applicable). What is SV WiMAX Service?
SV WiMAX is a fast, portable, affordable wireless Internet service.
How does SV WiMAX work?
SV WiMAX service uses state-of-the-art technology to transmit radio signals from a tower location to a modem that is about the size of a book. The modem easily connects to your computer. Once you plug in your modem, your connection is always on and always secure.
Is SV WiMAX secure?
All data transmitted between the tower and the modem is encrypted using AES data encryption algorithms. This encryption technology provides as much or more security support than traditional wireless Internet solutions.
How do I know that the signal will reach my computer?

How fast is SV WiMAX service?
SV WiMAX service provides download speeds up to 4 Mbps. DSL and cable offer similar speeds.
Is SV WiMAX reliable?
Yes. With SV WiMAX you'll enjoy your connection that is "always on." Plus, with SV WiMAX it is easy to tell the strength of your signal. Your modem will display signal lights, similar to the bars on a cellular phone, to tell you the strength of your connection.
Is SV WiMAX portable?
SV WiMAX is portable. You can move from place-to-place within the SV WiMAX coverage area. Use SV WiMAX in your home or office or your favorite coffee shop-anywhere with a power outlet!
How is SV WiMAX different than Wi-Fi?
SV WiMAX provides a more secure connection and allows more flexibility than Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi operates on unlicensed frequencies. This makes it vulnerable to scanning and packet interception. Because it operates on a licensed frequency and uses AES encryption technology, SV WiMAX is very secure. In addition, Wi-Fi is only available in "hot-spots." With SV WiMAX service, customers can plug in the SV WiMAX modem and connect to the Internet anywhere in the entire service area.
Will I be able to setup SV WiMAX services on my computer myself?
For most customers, setting up SV WiMAX service involves a "plug-and-play" installation. Customers can establish an Internet connection in a matter of minutes-no need for a technician to configure additional hardware and no need for software to be loaded onto computers. Can I have multiple computers on the Internet simultaneously?
By using a router, multiple users can be online at the same time with only one subscription.
What if my computer is set up in one room but my signal is stronger in another?
Usually customers are able to receive a strong signal wherever their computer is located. However, using a wireless router, you can place the SV WiMAX modem wherever your signal is strongest, regardless of where your computer is located. Wireless routers are available at many major retailers.
Are there any special circumstances in regards to service and billing?
A one-time $98 installation fee is required if an outdoor antenna is needed. If an outdoor antenna is needed the monthly equipment rental charge is $10.00. Customers may also be subject to special equipment fees. Sioux Valley Wireless may require a security deposit subject to credit approval. Customers may purchase modems for $275 in lieu of monthly modem rental. Each modem qualifies as a new service.
Do I still need anti-virus software on my PC?
Yes, we recommend that all PCs connected to the Internet have current anti-virus and security software. We have compiled a page of 'Helpful Links'.
